A Moment In Laduree

From the outside, I naively assume that this appears to be just like any other boullangerie. But as I have come to learn, there’s always a difference among Parisian pastry shops. As I step through the green wooden frame, vanilla asserts itself amongst the other scents that waft about the room.Along with the steady stream of traffic through its doors, there’s a murmur about the room that politely proves that this is a sophisticated space. No loud gossip, no cell phone chirps…just a reverence among the very patient looking people. It feels almost like a galley for viewing newborn babies.

The dessert shelf looks like a pastel rainbow of green, brown and yellow. As I approach, I can see that each colour of the macarons relates to its flavour. I am immediately drawn to the green pistache as pistachio was always my favourite flavour as a child.

When I hear the rhythmic french accent directed to me as the waiter asks “Pour vous monsieur?”, there is absolutely no hesitation or apology for using english in my response. This order has to be correct….4 green pistachio, 2 brown chocolate and 2 golden vanilla.

The meticulously clean white laced glove hands me the green box with its gold trimmings embossed in Ladurée font. Inside, the little meringue pies are nestled in the most delicate paper. As I pinch my first green macaron, it feels firm and I expect there be to be a crunch on the first bite. But there isn’t. Instead, my teeth sink through the most gentle texture…I imagine this is what biting into a cloud feels like. The flavour released is magnificent and pure.

Stuart Knight created the Life Changers because he wanted to bring greater value to the lives of his readers.  It was a humbling thing to admit, but he understood that his weekly blog would resonate with people some weeks, and on other weeks it wouldn’t.  Knowing that he never wanted a week to pass without touching the lives of his readers in some positive way, he decided to expand his offering to something that went far beyond his weekly message.  As a keynote and conference speaker, Stuart Knight has been fortunate to meet many experts in many fields and decided to bring these experts together to be part of a much larger message so that everyone could find something that would add value to their experience on earth.  And Life Changers was born! Each week nine experts dig deep into the most powerful lessons they’ve learned to bring you insights that will change your life.  All you have to do is let it happen.
